From the city council Highways department
Back in February this year we were allocated £300k as part of the Safer Streets Fund to make a range of improvement along sections of the Fallowfield Loop and Yellow Brick Road. These improvements aim to:
- Address personal safety and anti-social behaviour
- Provide a more open route
- Improve connections to surrounding neighbourhoods
- Revitalise the existing landscape to create more open and less intimidating environment for people using the routes
- Upgrading access points to make the entrances prominent and the route accessible, creating a more inviting route to travel
The planned clearance works to the Yellow Brick Road were completed as planned in April this year. This means we can move onto the next phase to improve access points and signage on the Floop section later this summer. Once we are through the busier summer months, we will start the resurfacing works to the Floop section also as we’ll need some small closures and diversions to carry out the work.
We were also recently allocated money via the Active Travel Fund (tranche 4) to carry out improvement works on the Yellow Brick Road and Sainsburys junction. We are developing the final designs for these and expect to be on site in spring / early summer next year.
We will keep you updated as work progresses.
