Regular events

Wildlife surveys – monthly

Continuing from the successful walks of the past couple of years, Sustrans and the Loop’s wildlife champions have prepared a schedule of wildlife surveys on the fourth Sunday of each month, 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.  The schedule is here.

Litter-picking – monthly

Litter-picking is planned for the second Thursday of each month (on the Fallowfield Loop) and the following Saturday (on the “Yellow Brick Road” – old Stockport Canal). The usual start time is 10 a.m.; to check on the arrangements for any particular event please contact Charles on 0161 445 6793 or 07784 793363.

Work at the Quadrants, Levenshulme – monthly

Incredible Edible Levenshulme are holding work parties at the Quadrants, Levenshulme at 10.30 a.m. on the third Sunday of every month – so please come and join in! The meeting-point is at the entrance to the Loop halfway up Crayfield Road.  For more information please see Incredible Edible Levenshulme’s Facebook page.

Regular orchard maintenance

We carry out regular maintenance work on the community orchards along the Loop.  Please let us know if you would be interested in helping out with these!

Thursday tasks – fortnightly

Since February 2016, Sustrans have run regular fortnightly task days on the Fallowfield Loop, kicking off with regular woodland management sessions. These tasks are now on the first and third Thursday of each month. All tools and equipment are provided, including for those who want to tackle litter on the Loop.  Everybody is welcome to come and help! Please ensure you wear layered warm clothing, waterproofs and sturdy footwear!

Please contact us to be added to the Friends’ mailing list for these events, or contact volunteers-north@sustrans.org.uk (telephone 0161 923 6050) for more information or to find out the meeting point for the next task day.
